چکیده

In this letter, we propose a distributed switch-and-stay combining network with partial relay selection and show that the system spectral efficiency can be improved via adaptive modulation. Analytical expressions for the achievable spectral efficiency and average bit error rate of the proposed system over Rayleigh fading channels are derived for an arbitrary switching threshold. Numerical results are gathered to substantiate the analytical derivation showing that in terms of spectral efficiency, the system with single relay outperforms that with more than one relay at high signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) and the optimal switching threshold can significantly improve the system performance at medium SNRs. key words: distributed switch-and-stay combining, partial relay selection, adaptive modulation

Distributed Switch and Stay Combining with Partial Relay Selection over Rayleigh Fading Channels

Switch and stay combining (SSC) is an attractive diversity technique due to its low complexity and compatibility to resourceconstrained wireless networks. This letter proposes a distributed SSC for partial relay selection networks in order to achieve spatial diversity as well as to improve spectral efficiency. Simulation results show that the performance loss (in terms of bit error probability)...

Optimal Combined and Adaptive Protection of Active Distribution Networks Considering Different System Topologies Incorporating Optimal Selection of Standard Relay Curves

The change in the topology of active distribution networks (ADNs) is one of the essential challenges that might affect the protection schemes. The conventional protection schemes based on base topology result in some coordination constraint violations in other topologies due to the outage of upstream substations and distributed generation units. In this article, new combinational and adaptive p...

Performance Analysis of Wireless Cooperative Networks with Iterative Incremental Relay Selection

In this paper, an iterative incremental relay selection (IIRS) scheme is considered for wireless cooperative networks in order to increase the reliability of transmission. Different from the conventional incremental relay selection which incrementally selects a best relay for only one iteration; the IIRS scheme iteratively applies the incremental relaying and relay selection processes. To evalu...

Secure Switch-and-Stay Combining with Multiple Antennas in Cognitive Radio Relay Networks

Eavesdropping is a major concern in Cognitive Radio relay systems, due to the broadcast nature of these systems. Physical Layer Security (PLS) has been seen as a good alternative to enhance the secrecy performance of these networks. Based on the concept of perfect secrecy, PLS uses an information-theoretic approach to prevent secondary transmissions from malicious attacks. In this paper, the Se...

Joint-design of Link-adaptive Modulation and Coding with Adaptive Arq for Cooperative Amplify and Forward Relaying System

This paper analyzes the efficiency of a joint-design of an adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) at the physical (PHY) layer with an adaptive R max -truncated selective-repeat automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocol at the medium access control (MAC) layer to maximize the throughput of cooperative nonregenerative relay networks under prescribed delay and/or error performance constraints. Particu...
